    Another battery disconnect switch question

    Hello All,

In the past I had one of those Wirthco knife style battery disconnect switches for my '66, but the screws on the bottom of the non-conduction plastic piece (See photo) that connects the two ends of the knife switch together would ground out on the steel surround of the top of my battery retainer making the switch useless.

I can always put something to insulate the switch to the battery retainer, BUT I'm curious if anyone else had this issue?

Does anyone have the knife style switch from LGB Industries (Savety Switch) that advertises in the Driveline - I'd like to know if it's the same Wirthco switch or another make. Maybe one is better than the other. Opinions?

I really like the knife stlye better than the knob one.

I'd say torque the retaining screws tightly. Then, find a piece of thin plastic that you can cut to fit (cover) the bottom side of the switch. Apply a smear of silicone rubber to bond the two pieces of plastic together and run with the switch you have!

      Hi Kurt,
We have the LGB disconnect switch and very happy with it. Those guys have been at this for a long time and really know what they are doing.

Give them a call and express your concerns and I am sure they will be happy to talk to you about it.
