    T strap originality?

I am interested in any information on identifying original T straps. I realize there is a "feel" that is softer compared to the reproductions but I also am curious about the markings.

I have noticed in my collection two different types of markings both just below the "top of the T" at the stem.

1st type) a very very small icon above a very small random number. The icon appears to be Rx?

2nd type) just smaller numbers no icon.

3rd type) larger numbers no icon.

I know it sounds crazy but i was just trying to understand the differences and whether one versus another indicated authentic t straps.

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

    Rick,

A assUme you are referring to the straps that hold the coupe removable hardtop panels in the interior of 1968 to 1972 Corvettes. You don't say, and I suppose there could be some other T-strap involved with Corvettes.

Have you noticed this in the 1968 to 1970 straps or the 1971-72 straps, or both styles?

No telling Larry because Rick hasn't filled out what Corvettes he owns in his profile, nor did he choose a logo for this thread. I can understand concerns about security, but we can't give effective help if we have to continually guess at the basis of the question.

Some time back someone posted suggestions for people on this board asking questions. I don't remember who it was, though.

I know it is difficult if one is all wrapped up in a particular issue to realize that others approach the question with no prior knowledge, so all the help you can provide will go a lot farther toward getting a "to the point" answer. Hey, but at least we are keeping Rick's thread at the top.

Edit add: I am also informed there is a woman's shoe called a T-strap, and a form of women's lingerie as well. I don't know if I should be glad or sad I didn't think of those when I first read Ricks post.

Rick, most of my black straps have a P 23, P 3, P 4, P 8, P 1, P 19, or P 7. I do have a few with a RX and then a number below the RX. My clear or white straps mostly have numbers but I do have one that has RX and a 21 under the RX. Hope this helps.

The RX helps a little with the other stuff going on here

Rick, below this window in which the typing occurs, there is a year button, that helps people see to what year your question pertians. And then, since you are new to the forum, you can set up your profile, if its just one or a couple of cars you could be working on. Hope this helps!

                    Rick,
Hang in there. The utility crews will get to you -- it just takes time. I know it is hard to have patience, but you and your neighbors just have to. So long as you and your family are safe -- that is what counts.

It can also be really, REALLY helpful if the AIM page and part number are mentioned. Really!

You wouldn't believe how much needless confusion that would resolve, especially in archive searches where pictures no longer exist...

Seriously... it would be really helpful!
