Guys, I am still working on my '56. It seems that I now have some sort of problem with the headlights flickering when they are turned on. This is without the engine running. I am waiting on a correct fan belt. I have a new wiring harness and all of the gauges have been rebuilt. I am pretty sure everything is hooked up correctly. I even tried another headlight switch and it did the same thing. It did not do this when I disassembled the car back in 2008. Could the voltage regulator have anything to do with this. I appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks in advance! Brooks Glover (2141)

Try wiring them direct to the battery. This will at least tell you if the lights are at fault. (Rather doubt it) Sounds more like a grounding issue. I would double checkall the connections. Using a Multi-Meter you can check the resistance in the headlight system. Good Luck, wiring can be a real pain

Re: Headlights Flickering on My '56
Hi Brooks; Went through the same problem with my 56. Turned out to be the high beam / low beam dimmer switch. Replaced with a NOS switch and replaced conectors on the switch wires. This solved the flickering. Good luck, Jim- Top

Re: Headlights Flickering on My '56
Guys, thanks for your replies to my post on the headlights flickering on my '56. Unfortunately this is not the only problem I am having with the car. Clutch and transmission problems, brake problems, a vacuum leak, accelerator problems, and plating problems are just a few of the issues we are having with my '56. I hate to say it but the headlight problem is now further down the list. I am going to try checking the grounds but have not gotten to it yet. BTW, an NOS light switch was tried with the same results. On Friday the clutch and transmission, brake, and vacuum leak problems were solved and we are moving down the list. These problems take time, patience, and hard work to solve. I guess this is just part of process to bring these cars back to life. I will post what solutions were taken to solve these problems. In the meantime I will just keep after it. This discussion group has been a big help. Thanks to all!Brooks Glover (2141)
