Re: 1965 Fuel Pump 327/300hp
Dean,
The 65 Corvette w/250HP & 300 HP engines used the 4657 AC fuel pump and in my opinion were date coded starting sometime in very late 1964. There is a thread about date codes on AC fuel pumps.
What is the date on your engine?
A 1963 & 1964 pump would be stamped "4657".
A 1966 pump made in May 1966 would be stamped "4657EF". There is also a 2-digit casting date (year) with radial hash marks (for the month) in the hole near the outlet.
The earliest dated 4657 pump that I have seen so far is "4657LD" (December 1964) with a "64" casting and 10 radial hash marks (Oct. 1964).
I believe the judging guides as not concerned with fuel pump date codes so for now you don't have to worry. I really do not think that fuel date codes will ever be added to the judging guides because that would mean that many Corvette owners would have to look for a date coded fuel pump for their car. I believe that politics will squelch the fuel pump date codes.

Re: 1965 Fuel Pump 327/300hp
I wouldn't be concerned about a pump's component date codes. Check your copy of the Judging Guide regarding the size of the font used to emboss the side of the pump's mounting flange (4657) and let that be your guide...
On the "What is the date on your engine?" query, I don't understand that line of thought. The engines were run-in at the factory (Flint/Tonawanda) using a propane fuel source and the AIM clearly shows the fuel pump being assembled onto the engine on the final line. Therefore, any date matching concerns would focus on the car's final assy date and NOT on the motor's build date.
Where do you get these original pumps? From donor cars (at the scrap yard, the swap meet, the 'specialty' catalogs like Paragon Vintage) and then you clean up the donor core and install a rebuild kit...- Top

Re: 1965 Fuel Pump 327/300hp
Dean,
If you are following the NCRS guidelines then just FORGET about date codes on fuel pumps.
If you want the correct fuel pump for you car then date codes are very important.
Here is just one example:
My "4657EF" (May 1966) fuel pump was the original pump on my 1966 Chevrolet 327 engine stamped "T0521HAR" (Tonowanda block dated May 21, 1966, with Rochester 4BBL carb.) with casting "3858180" and "E136" (or possible "E186") casting date.
I realize that fuel pumps were was installed on the assembly line and the date of the pump should be before the body build date. I guess that I should have asked you for the body build date instead of the engine date as this point is very important. I also guess that fuel pump date codes are not important to many NCRS members.

Re: 1965 Fuel Pump 327/300hp
It's hard enough to read the date code of a pump when it's in your hand let alone do it on a car.
Probably the easiest 4657 pump to find is the one that Dean needs. We nickname it the frog pad pump as two of the bosses that the 10/32 screws go thru are flat pads. Those pumps are readily available on ebay and at the fleas. Now when you rebuild one make sure you do your research and find a rebuild kit for ethanol. Otherwise you are going to have issues with leaks. Especially the bottom round cover.
