    Discussion Board Question

I hope someone can help me, and maybe others have noticed or experienced this. After posting a comment, my browser takes me to the thread with my comment as the last one. The problem is, if I want to go back to where I left off browsing the threads, say Page 3 of the Discussion Board, and hit my Back Arrow, it takes me to the Thank You For Posting screen which doesn't seem like the right way to do it. If I just click on the Technical Discussion link at the top or bottom, it takes me back to Page 1 of the Discussion Board and I have to go looking for where I was, on Page Whatever.
Is there a way to get back to where you were, before posting the reply without using the Back Button or going to Page 1 and then to where you left off?
I searched the Help section and couldn't find a topic that covered this.

    George,

Keep hitting the back button until you get back to where you were. Works for me everytime!

You might be a little quick on the draw, George. When you click on the back arrow, wait a few seconds to allow your screen to refresh before clicking the back arrow again. Try it and see if this might work for you.

Just put your curson on the small "Technical Discussion" below the browser tool bar. It will take you directly back to the discussion board

So will the square "GO" button at the "Forum Jump" item at the bottom right of the page.

            Dick,
yes, I stated that I have done that, but it takes me back to Page 1 of the Discussion Board. If I was on page 3 or 4, I then have to go to that page and find out where I left off.

              John,
Yes, but that gets me back to Page 1, as well. Usually, I look at the Board once a day and need to look at a few pages to see all the new posts. If you're on Page 3, 4, etc. it's hard to find where you left off. I just thought there may be a way to get back to where you were with one click.

George - spot on, could be an enhancement feature for the future.

THe only work around I know of is to do as the other guys suggested, go up to the browser and find the line before you got into the thread, about 3 or 4 clicks can be saves that way.

                  Another option:
                  1) highlight and copy the link URL
                  2) make your post
                  3) copy and past the link URL into the browser URL navigation bar window

                    George -

When I'm on the first page, I use the square "GO" button at the bottom of the page; when I'm on the second or third page, I use the browser "back" button to return to that page.

                      George,

Not sure what browser you are using, but if you right click in IE on post reply you can select open in a new tab. After posting your reply just close that tab and resume at your original location.

                        George,
I am using Internet Explorer 8 so I don't know about other versions of IE or Firefox but this is what I do to get back to page I have previously viewed:

On the "Go Back" arrows in the upper left hand corner there are 3 options. The first arrow is the "Go back", the second arrow is the "forward" and the third is the small triangle that when you hold your cursor over it it will read "Recent Pages" . By clicking the "Recent pages" tab you will get a drop down menu of recent pages you have viewed. You can then scroll down to page you want and click. You should be able to "go back" to any page you have viewed during that session of opening your browser. After you close your browser and reopen the drop down tab will be reset but you can use your history tab to reopen pages you have viewed (as long as you don't have your Internet Options set to delete your history each time you close your browser. Now that I have you TOTALLY CONFUSED good luck!! Shooter

As you are browsing the summary listing of all the threads, when you see one you like simply right-click on the title and choose "open in new tab". Then go to that tab to read the thread and if you reply no worries, then just close the tab when you are done. I usually go through the entire page view opening threads each in their own new tab, then I work my way through those tabs...

                            John,
Yes, that works, it just seems that when you have to go back through the "thanks for posting" screen, that there should be a more direct way. I guess not, and will just live with it. There are certainly other things to worry about.
