58-62 folding top compartment lock BOLT, GM # 3782560?

Back in the early 1980's I bought a pair of NOS 3782560 hood bolts (Gr. 8.085) for my 1966. I later found that they were much too long. My 1963 Chev. parts catalog even lists them for 61-63 Corvettes and 60-63 passenger cars. Obviously they are REPLACEMENT bolts that have to be modified.

The 3782560 bolt is also listed in Gr. 12.242 as a folding top compartment lock BOLT (1/2"-20 X 3 3/4" O.L. w/cone point) for 58-62 Corvettes. I could not find GM part # 3782560 in my 1962 Corvette AIM.

Is the 3782560 bolt also a REPLACEMENT bolt for 58-62 Corvettes?

3782560 listed in the '61 P&A Group 8.085, description: 61 Pass,Corvette Bolt 1/2-20 x 3 3/4" OL (w/cone paint)

Are ORIGINAL hood bolts on the 61 Corvette actually 3 3/4" long (total length)?

The folding top compartment bolt in my '59 is 3-1/4.

It appears that the 3782560 bolt (3 3/4" long) was strictly a service part. The parts catalogs should have had a note something like "CUT AS REQUIRED" in the description.
