    1974 Drivetrain Noise?

    I'm looking for any insights on the following noise from my '74, LS4, 4sp, Coupe with FE7 Gymkhana Suspension package;

    1. I hear this noise when applying brakes, most evident when coming to a
    slow stop (I can't tell if this same noise is evident at higher speeds).
    2. This noise sounds like a rotational chaffing with some evidence of slight
    clicking & rubbing. The noise appears to be a combination of all these
    descriptions.
    3. I don't hear it at the beginning of a ride, it originates after traveling about
    3-5 miles, then lasts until the end.
    4. The noise appears to be coming from the left rear wheel area. I haven't been
    able to confirm if it's also coming from the right rear wheel area.
    5. I've pulled the wheel & I don't see any loose connections.

    Any thoughts or suggestions...? Thanks for your help.

    At a slower speed , when the noise is evident, ride or pull on the parking brake slightly to see if it is parking brake related.

      Your suggestion reminded me that I neglected to say in my original message that I had already tried that. When I did, it felt like the full throw of the emergency brake handle made little to no contract between the pads and the drum and I was not able to duplicate the noise I had been hearing when the regular brakes were applied. I will try adjusting and taking up some of the slack in the emergency brake and try it again. Thanks.

        Possibly rear axle bearings?
