Hello, Can anyone recommend a vendor that would have a brake pedal lever and mount bracket for a 1957 with automatic transmission? As always thanks for any and all assistance. John

Re: 1957 Brake pedal
CC's auto brake pedal is missing the small tower for the spring, or it sure looks like it in the pictures. It seems very obvious to me in pictures comparing it to originals...- Top

If it's not too much trouble, can you post a pic of a pedal with the spring tower you mention?- Top

Re: 1957 Brake pedal
Hay Scott, I got one of the standard shift repop brake pedals a few years ago from your CC's & put it up to my original pitted unit & it was about dead NUTS on!!Only the area of the appearance of unpainted top needed to be at a lower cut line. As I can only speak well for the stick shift brake pedal, again a very nice piece!!

Re: 1957 Brake pedal
I remembered it being on Fuelie Dave's site but I don't see that he has any listed now. This was maybe 4 months ago. He claimed it was an original that was refurbished. However I looked just like this one that vettegal advertises: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/360244296198 Of course Fuelie Dave's had the mounting bracket also. It was several hundred dollars if I recall correctly.
If anyone can say I'm wrong, please do! I'm new at this and the only reason I haven't bought one yet for my restoration is because I'm still not 100% sure myself.

Re: 1957 Brake pedal
Is the standard brake pedal functionally the same as the auto brake pedal?
My 57 appears to be an automatic that was converted to a 4spd as evidenced by the hole torn in the firewall for the push rod and the weld witness marks left when the tower was re positioned on the frame.
Would the conversion to a 4spd require a change in pedals.
The frame and firewall are otherwise perfect. Things never appear what they seem unless they do.- Top

Re: 1957 Brake pedal
Joe , Yes to the first question.
To tell if your car left factory for sure as an automatic, look to See if you can locate if there was a nutral safety relay mounted on pass side besides the heater outlet box or hole. Should be some holes in fiberglass firewall inbetween where engine head & lower corner of heater opening are located if relay was removed. look at picture I included where the relay is located, looks like inner & under freshair pipe
to make standard, you alwready have a standard brake pedal so all that is required is the addition of standard pedal bushings, pedal arm, washers, cotter pin, rod.- Top
