    Re: 1965 Rocker Panel Restoration

I've done a lot of research on this as I need my 65 rocker panels redone as well. I've looked at the repo.'s, they are absolute junk. I've looked at several NOS sets and have come to believe that NOS means Not Originally Satisfactory and they went to the reject pile to be sold as service replacements.
Mr. Trim in Ca. has a terrible reputation so I would avoid them.
I finally found someone who knows what they are doing. He strips, polishes, bright dip anodizes to the correct finish and then clear anodizes them. I'll be sending him mine this fall. http://www.trimrestoration.com/index.html

        Re: 1965 Rocker Panel Restoration

The major problem with the restoration of original panels is finding a source to strip and finish base material before bright dip anodize.
The general opinion was to do in two steps - 1 strip & polish base material and then
2 send to get anodized. Make really sure it's a BRIGHT finish, most shops do not do the bright since its a different process.

I have no knowledge of the firm listed above however I would want to SEE a finished panel before using them. (may want to do a search on 63 & 64 rockers)

            Jim, that's perfect.

If you don't mind, would you post again after you get them back and let us know how they turned out.

Jim, I also have a set of '65 rockers I would like to refinish. Took a look at the chevy restorer's web site; parts looked good. Is the black portion of the rocker applied over the finished anodized part or painted before the final clear anodize? Blake

The black is painted after all the plating is done. I've seen Dave's work on a 62 Impala SS and the trim was FLAWLESS. He replates each step to exactly the same thickness as what the factory did.

I also am looking for someone to restore my '72's rocker moldings. They are, at best, in average condition. But in my opinion can be restored.

Have you sent yours to Trim Restoration yet and if so have you gotten them back? Are you satisfied?

                  Jerry

Jim, I had Trim Restoration do my rocker moldings and they came back excellent.

Last judging meet, Tucson, AZ, the judges had no complaints. They all said they were great.

The moldings I sent needed some tender loving care, they came back prefect.

Dave Kosmann, the owner, is a real gentleman and will make every effort to meet your schedule. I paid $600. plus mailing costs.
