Who was inquiring of me about a Skinner valve for FI?

A few weeks ago, someone was asking me about the Skinner valve I use to replace the cranking signal valve on 58-63 FI units. The original valve is no longer available and I now have a part number for an equal replacement Skinner valve (now Parker valves). I ordered and received 2 valves and the replacement valves are are VERY acceptable!

The former Skinner (Parker) valve is on the left, replacement is on the right.

The older version of the valve on the left was black (no clue why they changed color).

Tom, I can't say that I was the one inquiring but I am quite interested. I can't seem to visualize how to mount it on a 63 unit. I am running a CSV that I rebuilt many (22) years ago under Brian Futo's tutorship and it seems to be functioning properly. I have driven it on 3 road trips this summer for a total of 2200 or so miles but because I drive it a lot I would like it bullet proof. Where can this be purchased and for how much? Thanks, and I enjoy all of your threads and posts. Paul

      Paul,
I buy mine from Precision Fitting and Gauge in OKC. They also have a distributor in Tulsa.
I don't know what would be available in your area for purchasing the valves. I'd say just search the internet for sources of Parker valves.
To install the valve, there are basically 2 methods. You can just remove the original CSV and screw in a fitting (1/8in pipe thread) to install the valve. Then screw a fitting into the other side of the valve and plumb it to the T on the main diaphragm. Same method for earlier FI units where the CSV is screwed into the right, front side of the plenum.
The second method of installation is to splice it in line with the vacuum line coming off of the CSV and hide it behind the fuel meter (as I did). This method lets the CSV (even if it is junk) be retained for "appearance" purposes. Since Corvette hoods are hinged at the front, the hidden Skinner valve is nearly impossible to see when viewed from the side of the car by an observer.
The valve has 2 wires (doesn't matter). Use one wire as a ground (mine is attached to a screw on the main diaphragm cover). The other wire is connected to a wire/terminal that is 12v ONLY when the ign is turned to the start position (I use the small starter terminal on the starter solenoid). TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EASY!
Also for appearance purposes, I installed a 57 style micro switch on the air meter. Then I ran a wire from the terminal on the starter solenoid, and then a wire from the micro switch to the valve. As seen below.
