Radiator Tag MK for Heavy-Duty Radiator

Not sure when tags started but I pulled my radiator on the 78 for flush and test and had a good chance to check out the tag. Note the last digits of the part number at the top which I believe reads 3035558. AIM calls for 3035555 assembly but believe that was for base 2" radiator. The 5558 "MK" is the heavy-duty option for L82, C60 or V01.

I don't think the "MK"-coded GM #3035558 was the radiator used for 1978 HD (e.g. V-01) radiator applications. I believe that radiator was "ML"-coded and of GM #3035856.

See...I depend too often on sources that are not accurate while if I would have checked my catalog of build sheets would have seen that. But you are absolutely correct.

The ML code appears on build sheets when ZN1 (trailer package) was ordered or L82, C60 and M38 were specified. When the build sheet specifies C60, L82 and M20...ML is also listed on the build sheet.

When L82, C60, M38 were specified without ZN1, ML was called out but RPO V01 was not included in the RPO list. So the buyer got a heavy-duty radiator.

Code ML was also specified when L48, M38, ZN1 and C60 were specified and RPO V01 HD radiator was called out.

Otherwise, on all L48, C60 M38s, MK is specified.
