Newer BMW's also have computer-controlled electric water pumps, too - the replacement pump only costs $2,910.00 (plus labor). No, you won't find it at AutoZone.

I wonder in what way this adds real value to the car? In other words, what does this achieve that a traditional-style waterpump does not?

i bet if a dealer has one in stock the first BMW coming in with a heat problems is going out with it even it that was not the problem.
