    Carter Carb question

    Hello all
    I have a Carter carburetor with the base showing 3720SB L6. The foil tag shows 3720SB and also with a seperate stamp in the corner of DE. The foil tag also has a number 3851762. Is there a way to determine if this is from a 1964 corvette and is there a way to determine the date code from this carburetor?
    Thank You

      Ralph;

      I have a 3721SB that I bought as a service replacement in 1989, p/no#3851761. It too has a green metal tag with the part number, Model number and a "DD" in the lower corner, but no stamped ID on the carb base. If I were you I'd follow the base stamped data rather than the tag. Tags can be bought and stamped, as well as swapped between carbs, etc. The L6 is the most telling item; November 1966. What ever your application, say a L-75 Automatic, you have the latest and greatest model with the jetting spec'd for your engine.

        Re: Carter Carb question

        Thank you all for the answers. This carb is on my 64 and now I rather suspect it was installed as service replacement sometime in the early years. The wrong carb info showed up from the eagle eyes of the judges at the Ontario Regional and now I will attempt to see if a correct one is available.
        Again , thank you.
