I have a 1958 corvette that has been on comp only because it was torn apart but now back together and need full coverage. I was with AARP but am now shopping around. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Looking to drive occassionally to work and I see several companies don't allow that.

Bob
Search the archives, this has been discussed many times. Most classic car companies have some restrictions on the kind of driving you do. If you want it to be like a regular car, try some of the bigger ones, State Farm, Nationwide etc. The less restrictions the more the cost.

Re: Insurance
Make sure you buy Agreed Value and not Stated value. Some of the companies that have been mentioned are Stated value . The differance is .Agreed value you and the Insurance Comapany agree what the car is worth . Gets totalled out they write a check for the agreed price . Stated value is when you state the value and they say OK. Car getts totaled then you have to prove what the car is worth .Very big hassle. There is no differance in price .- Top

Re: Insurance
Also check with the National Corvette Museum Insurance, which is underwritten by American Modern Insurance. They offer agreed value policies that allow occasional driving to work (twice per week I believe).
The rates are competitive or better than other agreed value policies I found (I switched this Spring from Hagerty to NCM).

Re: Insurance
Lots of options, Bob. Make sure you have an "Argeed Value" policy, and be careful of those that say it is but it is'nt. Read your policy! Check the archives because there is a lot of discussion on this. Stay away from State Farm and Nationwide. I've had claim issues with both of them and they're real %#&*#! to deal with in a claim situation.

Re: Insurance
Being a retired military officer, I've used USAA for many, many years. When I got my 1970, USAA handed me off to their associate, American Collector's Insurance:
www.AmericanCollectors.com
We have an agreed-value policy, and they've been superb to deal with via both e-mail and by phone. I've not had an issue with the car, but when I have contacted them (moved location) they've been great to work with. They seem to understand our special needs, and I've always been impressed with the service. The price is outstanding. I can't say if the price I pay is due to USAA's influence, but I'd gladly pay more for the service and coverage if I had to.

Re: Insurance
I have Hagerty no problems they do not have to many restrictions, I do not believe they take to driving to work, but then I have not had that problem for a few years. Price is comparable with the others that I have checked with.

Re: Insurance
That has been my experience. I have 2 Corvettes '72 & '03. They have accepted the '03 even though it is obviously not a collector status car. They insure it because I have two non-Corvette cars that my wife and I drive as our primary means of transportation. Plus we are retired.
They were the best bet; particularly the '03.- Top

Re: Insurance
I use Hagerty. very reasonable. Agreed upon values. They used to disallow driving to work, but they have relaxed their requirements as of late, and driving to work is OK. Great customer service on the phone. They have new tools to value your cars on their web site.
All that being said, but, I have never actually filed a claim with them. Thank goodness.

I was with Hagerty for many years. Switched to the NCM policy this past year and saved $300.00 +/- keeping the same coverage I had with Hagerty.
Adam Boca is the agent at the NCM.
I've never had a claim with any of the "collector type" policies. Eons ago, I used to be with American Collectors.
