There was some tan and gray non hardening sealant under the T top trim on the body on my 69 coupe. The front corner pot metal pieces were almost glued down with the tan stuff and the rear where the top meets was sealed with a gray sealer. There was also gray/ silver sealer between the upper windshield trim and the t shaped molding. 3M strip caulk is what I have been using as a sealer in other areas but it only comes black now ( it used to come in gray). What can I use to replace this sealant? Thanks for any help

Re: 69 T top sealer
Patrick , all of the threads I found talk about the windshield and pillar post . What sealer should be used at the rear of the opening between the stainless trim and the body? I have a picture of a original owner 69 but still not sure how to make strip caulk look like this.corvette hunt bch (46).jpg- Top

Re: 69 T top sealer
I think it's black, but can check next time I'm out there. From my work on the orange car I think that one's black too.
I'd use the 3M StripCalk and let it go at that.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: 69 T top sealer
Brad, The sealant in your pic. almost looks as though someone other than the factory put it on, the area around the halo moulding looks as thought ot was put there for a leak? And the area toward the rear the same, the sealant was installed on the underside of mouldings and sometimes did squeeze out around the edges.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
