C60 inlet behind blower motor is full of holes, do I just pry it off to R&R?

The "Adapter Asm." (C60-D5, labeled but no part number call-out) on my '67 was drilled full of holes, for reasons not entirely known. Now that the front clip has been removed, it should be easy to remove and repair.

It's loose where the studs come through, but sealed tight everywhere else. Is it just behing held on by adhesives from the gasket shown on C60-D2? Do I just carefully pry it away from the firewall, or is it attached to something I don't see?

IIRC, you pivot the top forward and lift it out. It's a snug fit.

To fix it, I'd just lay some fresh sheet metal over the perforated sections.

Thanks Mike, if there's nothing besides the passage of time holding it in place now, then it's nothing a hammer won't fix

Scott, I have two here and neither have holes in them. I just installed the factory A/C in my 65 and the "dog house" as I heard some call it, is a very snug fit. when you tilt the top toward the fender make sure the bottom is resting on the firewall, otherwise there is a seam dead center on the top that will bind on the firewall. The dog house will be loose until the outer box frame is attached. From your pictures it looks like all the studs are in place. When the outer box is in place there is a loose stud (bolt) the fits from the inside of the car, its located very close to the vent on the right. when you replace the dog house and it can be difficult with the rubber seal, but with a little patience it will go into place
