69 stamp pad advice

I'm currious to see what you all think of this stamp pad. It's a car I'm considering buying but without any Docs.

My guess is that it's real but I'm no expert so I'd like to hear what you guys have to say about it...real or restamped?

As for the pic with the single fuel line, to me it looks like it's been there from day one....

Greg,

That stamp pad is original! No stamper around today would be caught dead trying to sell that pad to someone.

Purchase that Corvette with confidence!

Yes, the last 2 digits of the VIN appear to be missing (perhaps photoshopped out).

Suspicious, but who knows, it seems the judges these days are going more for sloppy and odd pads and rejecting neat and complete ones as "too perfect".

Thanks guys, Yes I photo shopped the last two digits out, not sure why but it seems like the thing to do on the internet theses days.

Well like I said, I feel it's real and most of you tend to agree so how bad would you think not having any Docs would hurt the value of the car. FYI, it's a nicely optioned coupe, 4spd with service dated carbs, wrong alternator and diverter valve and in about a #3 driver condition.

Other than the missing digits, looks like the pad on my 69 (which has a host of other issues though).

Although the font style looks to be correct. Your VIN should have 13 digits on that stamping! You've only got seven!

Warren, '69 only had nine. 19S7 and the last five digits of the VIN. Zero(s) are added, if necessary, to make it five digits

Hi Greg,

I always like your projects and your posts.

What documents would you need to feel more comfortable about the car? If it is the original motor, original drive train, correct vin tag and trim plate with the correct rivets, why are you concerned. Later after you have time to correct issues such as incorrect hoses, clamps and bolts on the car and you can take it through NCRS judging. Wouldn't that be enough of the great paperwork?

For docs a POP would be ideal or even a tank sticker. I don't really need it to convince myself but to convince the next buyer down the road. Despite some of the suspension mods the car has nice patina right now so that's why I feel good about it. However if I decided to restore the car down the road all this patina would be lost and it would be harder to convince someone that it's not a made up car without some original docs. That's just my thoughts...

On the other hand I would probably get Al Grenning to affirm it and that in itself should be good enough.

Thanks again guys but it's a moot point now as the car is pretty much sold. I guess I should have acted quicker on it but I guess I put too much weight on the lack of docs.

For what it's worth it was a nicely optioned L68, A/C, 4spd coupe in about a low #3 condition. Paint was okay but it was white so that hides alot, interior was very poor but the frame looked very clean and rust free. Just an old driver.

Any idea on what it should be worth. I know I'll kick myself for asking that!
