    65 Deck Lid Hinges

I purchased a pair of deck lid hinges at a swap meet several years ago, and I'm wondering if the are the right ones for my 65 conv. Prior to trying to install the the deck lid, I put new weatherstriping ( Corvette Central) on the lid. With the hinges in place (no shims) , I attached the deck lid to the hinges and tried to close the lid. the lid did'nt seat like I thought it would, and was raised up over a quarter of an inch above the body. Did I get the wrong hinges , or is the weatherstrip too thick ? Anybody have suggestions ?

Well, the hinges were all the same for 1963-67 so as long as you have hinges off of one of those, you should have the correct hinges.

I don't think that C1 hinges would even bolt up. As far as C3 hinges are concerned, the 68-69 hinges MIGHT bolt up but I don't think that 70-75 will.

Joe, Appreciate your response. Do you know what the difference might be in the height of the rectangular cage on the 68-69 's might be ?? Who maufactured these hinges for GM ?

Sorry, I do not have an answer for either question.

Joe, Found thread from Wayne Womble posted Nov 30, 2010 titled :

          C2 Rear Deck Lid issue.

His solution is to put a shim under the front bolt of each lid mount, ( between deck lid and top of lid hinge ). This should lower the lid at the rear. I'm going to give it a try.
