    torn between lifts

    Anyone have experience with either the Bendpak p-6b or the MaxJax Portable 2 Post lift?

    I'm somewhat torn between 2 lift styles and manufacturers for a low ceiling lift. Both look very stable and provide complete underside access.

    Scissor lift is out. The narrow stance and a front heavy load like a C3 makes it to frightening, and no centre access.

    It would be for all mechanical work and for complete underside access and full restoration projects.

    Thanks for your guidance.

    Re: torn between lifts

    I have a MaxJax portable lift. Works great with my C3 and C5. My ceiling is 8'6" and I can take either car all the way up. As long as your floor is at least 4" thick and 3000# psi you shouldn't have any problems. I was a little leery with my floor until I had as concrete guy come over and look at it. Mine is the fiberglass reinforced 4000# psi and it is 5-8 inches thick I measured every hole. I've been using it for a year with no problems.

      I have the MaxJax as well and have used it on both C3 and C5. I have a two car garage with, I believe a 98" ceiling, so limite space. Its so nice to throw a vehicle up on it to check something out. We had a group buy on the C3 CF forum that I took advantage back in the winter. I looked at a number of them but did not want to have to tear into the ceiling to accommodate the taller posts and liked the ability to stow the lift if I felt I would not need it deployed. Because it is a portable to pump and hoses sit in front of the vehicle but others have figured out how to mount the pump on the column (weld). On the CF C6 discussion there was much posted on the Maxjax

        Re: torn between lifts

        Michael;

        I just bought a Quality lift from one of our brother NCRS members who has been in the lift business for many many years. It is rated at 9000# and is one of the few lifts which fit perfectly in my low ceiling garage. I checked out a number of manufacturers and from what I can tell this one has many design benefits and features which I think are great. The lift is ALI certified and does not need to be bolted down and is made in the USA.... three important factors for me...

        Quality Lift has a nice website where you can download the lift assembly and operating instructions and they have a good Customer Service group who will explain their products and direct you to a local dealer.. Turns out that my unit, with 2000# more capacity than BYB was about 20% less expensive...

        There are so many lifts out there it is hard as a novice to understand and appreciate the differences.. that's why I went with the recommendation of one of our members.. and I am extremely glad that I did.. Shoot me a PM if you want details.

        Good luck..

        Joel
