Leaf & coil springs, '63 only

IIRC, there are differences in the front coils (not progressively wound?) and perhaps the rear leaf spring when comparing '63 model year with other midyears, standard suspension.

Couldn't locate any references ... can someone clarify that they are different & how to identify? Thanks.

    Jeff,

That's correct. All 63's and early 64's with standard suspension used a unique spring for both front and rear.
As you mention, the front springs are not progressively wound. That means the spacing between coils is the same, top to bottom.
The rear leaf spring is unique for the same reason but a different method was used. The top few leaves on a later 64 spring are flat instead of curved to match the other curved leaves. The ends of each leaf only come into contact with the curved leaves during jounce, adding additional stiffness to the entire spring package.

Pic is of the spring on my Jul '66 car during detailing, painting & new liners. If I understand your post, then the curved upper leaves are incorrect for my car?

Yes, they are incorrect for a 1966 9 leaf spring.
