Enclosed are 2 photos and a sketch w/dimensions of what I BELIEVE to be an alternator pulley for a 1964 Corvette 327 base engine w/AC.
According to the 1964 AIM (UPC C60, sheet C2.00) there are two pulleys listed for the base engine w/AC: 3850154 and 3810555. Neither one of these 2 part number are listed in my vintage Chevrolet parts catalogs. My 1964 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1963) does not list any alternator pulley for this application. My 1965 Chevrolet Parts Catalogs (Oct. 1964, Jan. 1965, and May 1965) lists GM # 3850155 for "64 PASS., CORVETTE w/Air Cond. (exc. Sp. H/Per., P/S, 62 amp)". The 2 21/64" (2.33") diameter listed for this pulley is wrong. My 1964 Corvair-Chevy II-Chevelle Parts Catalog lists the diameter of the 3850155 pulley as 2 21/32" (2.66") which I believe is correct.
According to Chevrolet Parts History GM # 3850155 was replaced with GM # 3875968 (a fan-pulley, 2 21/32" dia.) in July 1966 which was then replaced with GM # 3909817 (also a fan-pulley, 2 21/32" dia.) in April 1967.
The pulley in my photos measures 2.61" in diameter or about 2 5/8". Other measurements are shown in my sketch.
For those who have the ORIGINAL alternator pulley on their 1964 Corvette 327 base engine w/AC is this the correct pulley?
Dave
