1968 radiator core support with A/C needed

Corvette Central is in need of a 1968 radiator core support with openings for A/C hoses. It would be set up to accept a brass radiator for either a big block or small block.

There will be two openings in the right side panel for the A/C hose to come through. One of the openings is right along the upper cross bar and is oval shaped (see picture for reference). The other opening is midway in the panel and round (see assembly manual for more info).

    A few options:
    • If you can provide us with the described core support, we would be willing to send you a new core support for your efforts.
    • If you would be willing to loan us the support, we would be willing to cover all shipping costs and issue you a merchandise credit to redeem at your convenience.
    • Lastly, if you could provide a tracing of the core support, we would be willing to offer you a merchandise credit to redeem at your convenience.

Please PM me with your contact info.

Thanks for any assistance the forum members can provide!

      Scott,

You might be just the person to ask, if you might be able to answer a related question, I would appreciate it.

I have a '67 small block with factory A/C. It had front end damage in the early 1970s, resulting in some incorrect repairs, including the replacement of the RH inner fender skirt with a 1965 inner fender skirt (it's missing the indentations for the heater and A/C hoses that were molded into the RH inner fender for 1966-67). The A/C condenser appeared to be original. I believe the radiator itself is original because it is dated December 1966 ("66M") for a January 11, 1967 car, and considering the "rush job" quality of the repair work, I'm confident they did not look for a correctly dated radiator, back in 1971-1972 when these repairs were made.

The thing that puzzles me is the RADIATOR SUPPORT. It has the crossed reinforcement rods like the support in your picture, but if I understand correctly (from pictures on the Corvette Central website and elsewhere), a factory C60 car should NOT have the crossed reinforcement rods. It's hard to imagine that the Condenser and/or the Radiator survived the accident, but the radiator support was damaged and needed to be replaced, but unless it came from the factory with crossed reinforcement rods, then it must have been replaced.

The 1967 Assembly Manual shows part number 3894595 for the base model (UPC 11-13-A4), and part number 3894596 for the C60 option (UPC C60-B1, installs same as standard production part).

If my understanding of the crossed reinforcement rods (no C60) vs. no crossed reinforcement rods (with C60) is correct, are there any other differences between a small block C60 and non-C60 radiator support, or can I just remove the crossed reinforcement rods and it should then be the same as a factory C60 radiator support?

        This is correct.

Also, the only differences between a small block C60 and non-C60 support are the holes for the A/C lines.

          Hi Scott,
Have you received the core support?
Any news on the '65 BB support?
          G.

Haven't heard from Jerry? 5 days since you've had the support.

If you're lucky, they arrived home yesterday afternoon from Carlisle. I'd call them or give him a couple of days and see if he calls.

Scott, do you have a picture of an original 1967 small block radiator support for a car with C60? What is different about the holes for the A/C lines?
