Re: 68 original radiator value
Hi Roger,
To me the worth of the radiator would depend on the condition. '68's radiators could be either aluminum or copper depending on the engine, airconditioning or transmission and that might affect the cost. New ones from DeWitt cost $600 plus and come with a warranty. I don't think I would jump into the purchase of the one you described unless I had the unit pressure tested first to be sure it was not rotten. If it was a good unit, $300 might be a fair price. Perhaps a little more if it was NOS.

Re: 68 original radiator value
I would only use it if I did not drive the car. Good for judging , bad for driving. Even if it pressure tests, the inside may have deposit build up , flow may be ok, but it acts like a thermos bottle, hot water in, hot water out
Just my opinion.

Re: 68 original radiator value
Aluminium radiators are stacked plate design with no side tanks and no filler neck or cap. Fender skirt surge tank required. Probably had a steel fan shroud. Aluminium shown (not the best pic)
Copper/brass radiators are huge, 4 row, with end tanks, filler neck, and cap. No surge tank on the fender skirt. Probably had a fiberglass shroud.

Re: 68 original radiator value
As Jack said above I would not plan on driving with an original aluminum radiator even if it held pressure. I think you will find it will run hot. Dewitts makes a reproduction unit that can be dated for your car and will pass judging why risk problems. Original is not always better.- Top
