I agree with Joe that the reason headmarks are often left out of the Judging Guide is because there are just so many bolt marks that occurred. I have seen judges take off points when a bolt marking was not in the JG even though the listing in the JG was just some examples and not meant to be an inclusive list. Most judges give credit unless the headmark is clearly not a period mark, such as the triangles seen on a lot of hardware store bolts that have, unfortunately, made their way into a lot of restored cars.
As for replacing bolts, my rule is to NEVER replace a bolt unless you know for certain that the headmark is wrong. In fact, don't replace anything that you reasonably believe is original to your car no matter what the "experts" say!
