    C1 wiper transmission installation

My '54 wiper transmissions do not extend far enough through the cowl to allow the nut to engage the threads when the escutchen and gasket are installed. I could use 1/8" more length. Everything looks look right, but the car was disassembled when I bought it, so the transmissions may be incorrect. The escutchens are new reproductions. Any thoughts?

The cowl is free of obstructions and no more than 1/8" thick, so I can't grind that. Are the transmissions identifable by a part number? Mine display 88219-1 & 88220-1 on the flange.

    Bob,

Do you have repro wiper escutcheon? If so, might have to carefully reduce them to provide more thread.
