PV and Side Glass Regulator Noise

I'm preparing for the PV at the CA capitol regional in October and my 64 has some regulator (spring) noise when operating the side glass. When I restored the car I did not change the regulator coil springs, I just cleanded an lubed them - still there is a little noise as the spring coils and uncoils. The PV guide talks about smoothness of operation and freeplay but does not discuss noise during operation. Just wondering if I need to pull them back out and change the springs.

    Jeff,

I think I would just pull the door panel and take some axle grease to them before going to the trouble of pulling them out. As I recall, they were gobbed (good word) with grease or something thick along that line. Probably old grease that had hardened.

Totally agree! My 64 windows were binding etc. Removed door panel etc. and located the spring, then flooded it with a spray can of white lithium grease. Presto, silky smooth. Give it a try!

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!

OK, I did the passenger door tonight and it took some effort to work the grease into the spring coil but the sound is gone! I thought had done that when I had the regulators out the first time but I guess I was to stingy with the lube. One more thing off of the old PV check list. Thanks for the responses.
