Novi Seminar Head count-Actual vs Online Registration

For his years National Convention you could register onlne for each seminar you planned on attending. These online totals were surprisingly close to the actual attendance numbers so I thought I'd share this info. Based on the totals we went with the larger seminar room. Good thing we did.

Ken Kayser Engine Build-100 reg. / 106 actual
    Jeff Bernhardt Paint-126 reg. / 112 act.
    John Hinckley-St Louis Assy Process-169 reg. / 191 act.
    John Waggoner/Rob Musquetier Tech Board-51 reg. / 44 act.
Ken Kayser Fuel Injection-41 reg. / 37 act.
    John Ballard Paint-114 reg. / 146 act.
Jack Panzica USA Tour-13 reg. / 17 act.
Dave McLelland, Dave Hill & Tadge Juechter Discussion-71 reg. / 95 act.

    Thanks, Matt

Thanks for the actual numbers Matt.

My view was jaundiced because I only went to the Hinckley, Waggoner, Ballard and 3 Engineers Seminars. Three of the four had people standing in the back of the room and/or in the hall way. That lead me to think the system needed tweaking.

I guess it is like the story of the blind man describing the elephant.

      Terry,

Gotta remember that OLR seminar counts only included the members who registered on-line. Attendees included the snail mail registrations.

Hard to predict the quantity of snail mail registration attendees when there's no tick boxes for seminars on the snail mail forms.

I forgot about that "glitch" in the system, Gary. But of course it would have applied equally, but proportionally to all the seminars.

FWIW: for the Advanced Judging Seminars

        Electronic registrations Actual
        7/21/11 * 87 ******** 104
        7/22/11 * 74 ******** 84

BTW: I am not being critical of the system. I am well aware that the introduction of any new system requires some time to work out the "bugs." I have participated in that Q & A process both at work and with NCRS. The introduction of a new system also requires getting the humans to adapt to the rigors of the system. I have received that T-shirt at work also. I do firmly believe the more exposure the details of the system receive, the easier it will be for us all to adapt to it, and the more likely people will be to successfully navigate it..

          Terry,

No problem. Hope you didn't think I was being critical as that wasn't the intent.

As we all know folks sign up for freebies with good intentions, but get the priorities changed.

System changes and enhancements are inevitable. The Judging Points and Car Awards database as you know has enable NCRS to provide better service to the NCRS members.

Sooner or later with the OLR sign ups, all you'll have to do is review the attendee list and tick a box to approve them. Same for the Judging Chairman on Judges and Tabulators.

          Best,

          Gary

No, Gary I didn't think you were being critical. I simply wanted to point out to the casual reader that I am in support of the move to electronic meet registration, and that I believe these challenges just come with the territory. In a couple of years we will look back and wonder at them.

BTW: Sorry I miscalculated the actual attendance at the AJS for Novi. Every once in a while all the synapses don't fire right. I edited the actual numbers, and they are now correct.
