    Orig vs. Repro Heater Box

Does anyone have one of these repro boxes? What are the differences between original and the repro? This one is form Eckler's.

    Thanks!

    Tom,
Attached are a few pictures of the defroster/heater box in my 57.
Other then having trouble getting the left hose on it looks good.
It is a repro that I bought from Keen Parts (800-757-5336).
Probably made by the same company that everyone sells.
    Hope this helps.

I bought my repro from CC. Lot of money for what basically is a piece of cardboard. The only difference I can see from the original is there is a different number of staples, but that could have varied from car to car too. As Bruce says, they are probably all made by the same manufacturer. -Dan-

Thanks guys. Upon first glance the repro looks close. When it cools down I will go into the garage and count the staples.

check the fit of the defroster door . I was told the Judges feel how much air is coming out of the defroster .Because the is to much space around the door and it does not direst enough air flow to the defroster.

Does the repro have the "fuzzy" around the perimeter of the door?

Re: Orig vs. Repro Heater Box

The only 'fuzzy' my original box has is a piece of rubber stapled around the end of the flapper. Plenty of side clearance, and doesn't appear that there ever was anything else on it. Don't remember what the repop has. For staples, my original has 5 staples at the bottom front that go into the diffuser, and 2 inserted from far side on the right end. The repro is the same in this respect. The top has 18 all total, inserted from farside, but a couple of them are double hits - right next to each other - so it probably can vary some. The repro looks about the same. It is in the car, so I can't see the whole thing. So right now the two look almost identical, contrary to what I said in my earlier post. -Dan-
