    1960 tach cable

Another oddity on the 60. Apparently the tach cable was run from the back of the generator through a bracket mounted on the intake then through the firewall near the speedo cable. At first I thought this was a replacement job. but the cable ends appear to be the right ones and the bracket holding the cable is acutally part of the assembly, you can't remove it. The hole where I expected the cable to go through is plugged with that soft dum-dum type sealer.

Am I correct in my suspicions that this is some sort of replacement cable or was this type of routing a factory variant?

    Tom,
That looks like it may be going where the cable for the distributor drive tach would go. The correct routing is by the heater and under the dash according to the AIM section 12 sheet 9. Looks like someone took an easy route instead of going under the dash and dealing with all the cables under there.

I agree with Philip. Looks like "Bubba" was there.

Thomas, what type of camera do you use to take excellent closeup photos.

You photos are never washed out by the flash intensity and always crystal clear. My pocket sized Nikon digital has a macro setting, but the photos never come out sharp and clear and I have to put my thumb over part of the flash to reduce the intensity.

          Phil,

Pretty much what I was thinking although this particular cable would not be long enough to be routed the AIM way. I have a stack of receipts from the original owner, I'll have to go through them and see if I can find one for a replacement cable.

            Joe,

I use two cameras. My primary one (mine) is a Pentax 35mm digital SLR. I use this one for most of the overall style pictures as the macro capability is limited. The second camera (my wifes) is a pocket type, $150 Olympus that does much better with the close ups then the Pentax.

I don't know if you ever watched Norm Abrahms on This Old House where he seems to make perfect cuts each time? Well I got to meet him once and asked him about being so perfect. He laughed and said that they never show the 5 previous takes............ Same deal here, I delete the washed out / messed up pictures. Trust me, there are many. You have to love the digital picture age.
