59 top flite can I verify the award?

I'm looking to buy a 59 that is top flite certified. The current owner bought the car from Pro team 12 years ago. It has a copy of the top flite award but not the original. How can get a copy of the original?

    Jeff,
see car award confirmation service, the third service down in the link below.
The service will only cost you a cool $300. Maybe the seller will split that with you, or deduct that cost from the sale price IF NCRS confirms that the car really did TF.

There is only one original and you've already got a copy of it. The certificate was issued during a chapter, regional or national meet, most probably on site at the event by hand or on a computer printer. NCRS HQ does not have any copies of any certificates or the judging sheets either (only the summary).

      Two other small points-
      1) a 12 year old award, aside from sentimental value, probably has little meaning today

      2) it's a 'certificate' but it doesn't mean that anything on the car was 'certified', then or now.

        3) If you had the original certificate the reverse side would contain a disclaimer to the effect that the award is only good for the time and place of presentation. Short explanation is that any part could have been changed in the intervening days, months, or years.
