    6 banger carburator adjustment

A Belgium friend of mine has problems adjusting the three carburators on his '54 Vette. Is there an adjustment procedure somewhere documented he can use (manual, online, elsewhere???).

He gets the first two adjusted but when the third one is done it spills over. The engine also sweats a lot...

    Help would be appreciated!

    regards,
    Rob.

Rob, I have documentation both from Chevrolet and from this forum, but I have to go home tonight and dig it up. It's very useful and accurate. Should I email to you? Hints: The throttle plates must first be set to fully closed by adjusting the linkage set. To do this means also to turn all idle adjustments fully UP. Then, the idle speed must be constantly adjusted to stay the same during adjustments! I think it's 475 RPM in drive. Then, the adjustments must happen in a set sequence.

The "spilling over" problem is common with these side draft Carters. The factory spec for the float height is inaccurate. They must be set lower than factory spec by about 1/8" (3mm). The docs that I have at home explains all of that as well.

This is the first part of the information I received from Joe (for other to use as well)

          and

Furthermore I was pointed to some previously published Restorers articles on the subject...
