    1954 frame stenciling?

Did these frames have anything stenciled on them? I haven't read anything that indicates that. Any othrt marks? Also, my unit # 2468 has two serial # stamps side by side on the middle left rail. Nolands book says this didnt happen that much but I suspect it did. Is mine common? Thanks for the input folks.

Guy, I've found a GM photo that has a just-readable frame stencil, once you crop and digitally zoom in:

Looks like 303190 to me. On my car's frame, and I would expect on others too, there is a two digit suffix to the frame number.... no idea what that means.

        Anyway, hope this helps.

        Jim

          Jim,

The two digit dash extension numbers are production job lot numbers.

That's good to know, Gary. How does one interpret those numbers?

Wow, this is cool srtuff because the literature really doesn't talk about this that much. This doesnt mean much to anyone but the guy fixin to pop the body back on. Thanks so much for the pics, we'll all benifit from this. Ive gone so far as to save the brass nuts on the exhaust hangers, whats that about? Something special??

NCRS/Driveline has a book Corvette-Chassis Restoration Guide. It will answer all your questions on frame #, size, location etc
