    70 Wiper Door Trouble-shooting.

I reviewed a lot of the threads and tried almost everything I could figure.

Here is what is happening. All with engine running.

Wiper door will not open or close via wiper switch or override switch.

If I manually push the actuator open with the wiper switch in the car on, the wipers work. When I shut off the wipers the door will close. If I then turn the wiper switch on nothing happens. I hear a click and when I turn the wiper switch on I can hear and feel the solenoid fire. The wipers parked properly.

If I manually push the actuator door open without the engine running it is still holding enough vacuum to close the door. The three port switch is still depressed with wipers parked so I would think this part is correct.

I have the Dr.Rebuild vacuum door diagram illustration and all appears correct.

    Headlights work perfectly

Anyone run in to the same or a similar problem? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Bill

Well I read a little further and there was another post with the same problem. Turned out to be the actuator.

I pulled the actuator and found that the rear seal was not properly seated. reseated and installed the actuator after testing and all is well

    Works perfectly!!

Bill good to read you found your problem. The seal for the actuator when it needs replacement is found in a lot of stores. Years ago, many years ago, over 20 I read in a Corvette publication about using a baby bottle nipple. I tried it and it has been over 20 years installed in my 70. I did not use the rubber baby bottle nipple, I used the silicone baby bottle nipple. It cannot be seen unless someone moves the rubber covering.
