Is there a sealer applied underneath this W/S channel on the midyear A-Pillar?

    Peter -

Yes, there is. See your Assembly Manual, UPC 1-Asm, sheet F22, View "A", item #14B.

Pete, I have my 63 apart, and the windsheild stainless had never been off, seems GM used a lt. Gray chaulking materail, looks like the 3M strip chaulk, at least thats what I will use upon assy. I am not sure but 3M may make a lt. gray chaulk.

PS. There was quite abit on the front of the windsheild weatherstrip and the posts left and right and a layer on top post of the inside windsheild.

This was on the back of the pillar trims on the '67 convertible I recently did. It was a thin sticky black "tape" like material. It may have been some form of double sided tape. It was still sticky when I removed it, but I used a small amount of black butyl rubber sealer when I reattached them.
