My recently acquired 64 has reproduction knock-offs and I would like to replace them with wheels and hubcaps. I have purchased a set of early 64 hubcaps based on my Vin #...06680 with the correct frosting pattern. With respect to the wheels, should they or should they not have a 1/8" hole on the spider? And how would the car be judged given that the judging manual says "1964 model wheels are usually drilled with a single hole in the spider area that is absent in 1963 model wheels'? The spare has the double ridges of the 1963 wheel.

Re: 64 Wheels - Early December car
Frank,
You may want to read thru the two threads shown below. There are probably still even more threads about 63-64 wheels.

Re: 64 Wheels - Early December car
The only wheel you would be able to see the hole in the spyder is the spare and I would not expect to see one anyway on a VIN as early as yours. I thinks it was pretty late in the year before the hole showed up.

Re: 64 Wheels - Early December car
Thanks for the links. I had read those two particular threads and many others prior to my post. They provided a great of information and data. But I was hoping to understand the car would be judged and which wheels should I attempt to purchase.- Top
