    Leather Treatment

My 71 coupe is all orginal and unrestored and I'd like to keep it that way, however, the saddle leather interior seats need some TLC. They have no rips, or any other real damage, but are a little faded and the leather is a little dry and stiff. I'd like to treat the leather but don't want to apply a product that may damage the leather or wreck the original lightly worn appearance.

Does anyone have any recommendations for conditioning treatment?

Lexol has a very good cleaner and preservative. You can find it at a lot of automotive stores or equine supply stores. Another popular, with some people, is Conolly Hide Food.

I second the Lexol, I've used it for decades.

I have used Lexol for for nearly 35 years and it is excellent.

                Chris:

Do NOT use Lemon PLedge, or any products that contain waxes or silicon. These compounds plug the pores in the leather. Read the following thread, particularly Post #3. The link it contains has a ton of information on this.

                The overall favorite is Lexol.

Pre-Lexol I used to use Connally (the leather folks) Hide Food. Too bad they are no longer in business.

I have been using the Voodoo Leather Rejuvenator from Surf City Garage.

It is sold @ Pep Boys.

It leaves the leather natural (not silppery) and has no residue.

I'll ask this question for alot of us C-4 owners . On my 95 with 19K , both outside bolsters are raw from getting in and out , I've tried leather conditioners but it doesn't change the look of the leather . Is there a product that will repair damaged leather ?

Use a high quality shoe polish in a matching color. Depending how worn the leather is you may have to apply several coats. Make sure you allow if to dry thoroughly, ie 12 hours or so depending on the humidity. Once it is dry and you buff it off, then apply Griot's Leather Rejuvinator for a supple, lanolin-based finish.

Thanks Peter , seems like how to protect leather is covered often here but how to bring it back is not . Where can I buy Griots is it in auto parts stores ?
