Has anyone had their dash pads replaced or restored. I need my instrument panel cleaned up and cracked dashed pads replaced I guess. I was told this would be a 20 hour labor job. Anyone have experience with the dash and pads being re-done?

Re: Dash Pad restoration
Jerry,
I replaced mine with repops from Corvette America and am happy with them except they look brand new in an otherwise old car. It is a very time consuming job and not to mention a PIA. There are a lot of things you can do when you have it a part but a shop probably isn't going to take the time to do if all they are doing is replacing pads.- Top

Re: Dash Pad restoration
Jerry,
My recommendation would be to replace the skin on the dash pads. Corvette America sells the skins with adequate instructions so that anyone with limited skill can attain a wonderful outcome.
The cost is only a fraction of replacing the dash pads and in my opinion the skins look better.

Re: Dash Pad restoration
Thanks guys. My 66 has been repainted 6 years ago, and the car is 90% restored. The engine rebuild on the 327/300 has about 2,500 miles on it since '07. Interior with leather seats completely redone last year. Correct N-11 mufflers two years ago and it is numbers matching. It has had dual master added as was power steering. I would like to do the dash pads and clean the entire instrument panel and glovebox, but it is out of my pay grade. 20 hours I was quoted plus about $900 for the dash pads. I'd be done I guess for about 3k.
I'm not getting any younger, but the car is.- Top
