62 870 block on ebay

I believe this is a high performance 62 Impala block suffix R. Could this not be used in a Corvette by adding the B,C,D,E to the suffix and adding the VIN to retain the original broach marks?

If so, someone may want to take a close look at this.

It's not a Flint casting....( 2 digit year in cast date is Tonawanda casting )
( size of lettering of cast part number is smaller than Flint cast part number )

Sorry but it is a Flint casting L 26 1 (Dec 26 1961). It has the large casting number and F0102R on the pad with broach marks as seen in the picture.

you're right...i stand corrected...I was reading date as ( Dec 2nd 61 ) and casting number size seems correct also compared to my Flint casting...my block is dated dec 19th 61 ( L191 )

the R stamping is a tad rotated countercloskwise and the photo doesn't allow for broach mark evaluation. price is right if its the real deal.mike

The "R" signifies a "327" engine w/manual transmission for a Passenger car, model # 12-16-1800, nothing more, nothing less.

Doc, hold yer control key down on yer keyboard and then scroll with the mouse to enlarge the post. Pretty high quality photo as I got the R almost 1" tall before it started to pixilate
