    '63 Transmission, Is This Correct?

How can I confirm this is the correct or original transmission for my 1963 Coup, I attached a pic, the numbers match, however its odd one stamp is slightly over the other?

    Thx.....Rocky

    Rocky,

The stamp looks fine to me, I have seen this before. The W= Warner, B= February, 13= day of the month, 3= 1963 and 1= shift.

The other stamp, (serial #) should be exactly like the stamp on the block pad..

Thanks Tim, It was mentioned me that this might be a re-stamp, I am not sure why or how that would be the case? Any ideas?

        Rocky,

Others may have another opinion about restamp but it looks fine to me. Look closely at the engine stamp and compare as I believe it was done at the same time with the same stamp.

What are the other markings and dates? Can you confirm that the "1" in the assembly stamp has a "base", ie, not like the vertical "1" in the VIN? The "3"s are different which is correct.
The original T-10 in my #10706 car was assembled the day AFTER yours.
Is there a stamping on the flat surface of the tailshaft just above the reverse lever? Casting date on "tape", RH side and upside down? Bowtie?
I assume the trans is in the car so you could not see a stamping on the top of the main case on the right side.

I have no doubt this is the original transmission installed in your car.

                Rockland -

I had looked at that photo a couple of days ago (for Jerry M), and questioned the location of the date stamp; with the photo upside-down, it appeared to be on the midplate instead of on the main case. Turning the photo right-side-up, it's clear that the stamp is where it belongs. Looks good to me.

                  Rocky,

From what I can see of the engine pad stamp I think they are identical so you are good to go IMO. The spacing of the 1's look the same as well as the 38 part of the stamp # being lower in the stamp.
