    1957 temperature guage

On my 57,using my I.R. gun, my temperature guage is reading + 15 degrees from the real temperature. Is it possible to have the temp. sender or guage recalibrated to a more realistic number. My guage has been rebuild by one of the respected vendors.

Jerry, I would opt for a new quality sending unit. I have gone through a couple of bad ones over the years on my '57. As a double check years ago I suspected my original, non-rebuilt gauge so I bought a SW gauge and checked with it. It was the sending unit that was bad.

Steve , I appreciate your rapid reply. Just a review, should I connect the negative wire to the sender for the guage and the power supply from the battery side power source. thanks

Jerry, I don't have my diagram with me but IIRC the dark blue neg to the temp sending unit and the power (pink???) to the junction block. I need to double check but believe that is correct.

When I did the check with the SW gauge I used a new jumper wire to the sender.

If you like to mess around with electrical stuff you could put a resistor in line with the blue wire and calibrate the gauge based on you temp gun reading, if you trust your temp gun.
Of course you will have to mess with different size resistors until you get the correct reading.
