    59 Dog Dish Caps

I recently recieved my dog 59 dish caps back from the plater. Is all the backround area painted satin black or is there some red on the left hand flag ? I forgot to document them before strippng and plating, and they were bare brass for so long I've forgotten.Does anyone have a color picture they could shair ?

      Hi John
I used a shop by the name of Elektrofinish Custom Polishing Kettering Ohio.Owned by Mike Klein. 937-245-21389 Mike gave me a good price because I did the metalwork and he plated them. I would feel better telling you to call Mike in regard to price. I can tell you that I got a quot of $150.00 each from Advanced plating in Nashville if I just sent them as they were. Mike will do them for less. No one will duplicate the original crappy finish. They will probable be considered over restored by an NCRS judge, but I don't care cause damn they look good.

I've never seen any color other than black on these hubcaps.

You have to remember the original use for these caps was on the lowest cost passenger cars.... there wouldn't have been a lot of motivation to pretty them up with an extra painting step.

Thanks Jim and John for the good info. now does anyone have any experiance painting the backround of those flags ? The checker is not so bad, but the other one is going to be a challenge.

Stephen, Since I don't show my cars I just used a black Sharpie pen. If not that a very steady hand with a fine brush and modelers paint.

Thanks for the input. I think the biggest challenge on these will be the left hand flag not the checkered or the 6 backround panels.I'm considering 1 Shot sign painter enamal with a little flatting agent added. That stuff is very creamy ,has a very slow evaperation rate, and if you make a mistake you just wipe it off and start over.
