    58 Rt. inner fender extention

I am finishing final assemble of my first week of Dec.58 build of a 59 serial #1944. I recently discovered that the original inner skirt on the right side that I replaced had the removable insert like a 58. There is no evidence that this inner had ever been replaced, so my Question is. Could an early 59 have a 58 inner fender ? Has anyone seen this in the past ? Before I cut the now finished skirt and modify to duplicate what I had I need to know how it would judge as is and if this is valid when was the change made.

Surely one of you 58 ,59 judges out there would be interested in this Question.Do I have something outside the norm ? If not at what point did they stop using this extention. Mine is original to the car. I welcome your input.
    Thank You

I have '59 2520, assembled at the end of December (original inner fender). I don't think it has an insert...not sure what to look for.

Thank You Bill. What your looking for is at the bottom of the inner skirt, just bellow the voltage regulator were the skirt goes from a vertical surface to a horizontal one. The best example I have found in a book is the Central Corvette cat. 1F page 72 part #141089. For those of you that are curios look straight down past your voltage reg. and if you see a lipp on the skirt with a separate panal attached with 3 screws thats it.
What I need is for owners of 59s with a ser # pryor to 1944 to investigate this please.

Good description of what to look for! 2520 is one piece.

(This is a 290HP car, which has a different inner fender due to the washer jar being installed on the RH side. I'm assuming that the inner fender was pre-drilled for that accessory and unique to the 290 with washer...)

Surely there's one of you out there with an early 59 (pre#1944)who is curious enough to get out your flash light and look down at the bottom of the right skirt and see if it is typical of a 58 or of a 59. Just below the voltage regulator.Thank you for any input.
