Color- 66 knock off wheel adapters and nuts

Can any one tell me what color the knock off wheel adapters and long nuts should be? I am told that the adapters can be either silver cad or gold cad and that the nuts can also be either color. Is this correct? Thanks

Here's 4 nuts (top row of bottom pic) which I believe to be service in about 1976 -- with the longitudinal line. Below that, for an example of restored, is the Burroughs "state-of-the-art" car at the 1980 (?) National in St.Louis. Any familiar faces -- 30 years later ?

      Wayne,

The KO wheel adapters on the Burroughs car were definitely silver (cad or zinc) before the restoration. Pretty sure the nuts were too.

Replacement nuts ordered from GM in the 70's came in some sort of gold color plating.

That's right, Michael -- I forgot you had that car at one time; # 14971.
Here's another shot of the rear wheelwell at the St.Louis meet (1981, not 1980 -- I stand corrected). I've never seen those white paint bands on the trailing arm on other cars; certainly no trace on my L78.

Wayne, By service do you mean over the counter replacement parts?

Russ --- yes, I bought this set of five wheels, spinners and adapters in October '76; originals off of '66 VIN 13162. Did not get the adapter nuts, as there was at least another owner since they were removed. So I assume I got the KO nuts from the General, as they were still available (# 3852554) as of Jan 1980.
