    Assuming it was made and or rebuilt before 1980, the materials specified back then did not account for the alcohol in modern fuels that react differently to some of the rubber seals etc.

    It can't hurt for a while and when it goes, rebuild it with a modern kit.

    I'm on the 4th pump in 45 years.
