1956-1962 AC fuel filter asm. (dated Feb. 1961) question

I have an AC fuel filter assembly with castings "AC", "USE ELEMENT TYPE GF-124", "IN", and "OUT" on the top side and "MADE IN U.S.A.", "5650225", "61" with 2 radial dash marks (Feb. 1961 date code), and "1" on the back side as shown in the photos below. The glass bowl has a "AC" casting and a large cross casting. I do not have the element.

My question is this. Is this cover correct for 1956-1960 Corvettes as well except for the casting date?

NOT CORRECT FOR 56 57 & SOME 58's , MAY WORK WITH 1961 & 62 BUT THIS IS OR COULD BE AN OVER THE COUNTER REPLACMENT WHICH COULD VARIE FROM FIRST PRODUCTION LINE UNITS. MOST BASE MODEL ENGINES 59 THRU 62 USED INLINE STONE FILTERS ON INLET OF CARB.. IT MIGHT WORK WITH THE LATER 60 VETT 2X CARB. EQUIPED MOTORS, SOMEONE MAY ADD MORE INFO TO YOUR QUESTION. GOOD THING IS THIS WILL FUCTION FINE WITH ALL YEARS

      Adam,

I did not think that it was correct for 56-57 Corvettes as I believe that the 56-57 Corvettes and the 55-57 T-birds used the same fuel filter assembly. Now I know it is not correct for 58 Corvettes.

The cover was cast in February 1961. I would assume that the filter assemblies made in 1961 were used on the assembly line as well as sold over the counter.

      Thanks for your comment.

What you are looking at on the underside of the top was the part number for that style top. That would not coincide with it's use in the finished assembly part number sent to car assembly plants which used the 854392 cover. The filter element GF-124 was it's own part and used in many different applications. Correct for judging? Not likely.
