NORS 66-67 air cleaner (327) on Ebay

I believe that the NORS air cleaner, GM # 6484498, currently on Ebay was never original equipment on any vehicle.

66 Corvette (327), GM # 6422286 replaced with GM # 6423909 (7/11/66 in AIM and July 1967 as per Chevrolet Parts History).

    67 Corvette (327), GM # 6423909 replaced with GM # 6484498 in Jan. 1970.

    67 Corvette (327) w/A.I.R., GM # 6423520 replaced with GM # 6484498 in Jan. 1970.

    67 Chevelle (327) w/S.H.P., GM # 6423506 replaced with GM # 6484498 in July 1970.

    67 Chevelle (327) w/S.H.P. & A.I.R., GM # 6423507 replaced with GM # 6484498 in June 1970.

It definitely is designed for an A.I.R. application, and it looks to me like it has clearance for a Holley dual feed with center pivot bowls. The Chevelle L78s were exempt from A.I.R. in 1966, but it could possibly fit a 1967 Chevelle L78 with A.I.R. There weren't very many of those made with the EX engine code.

Were the 1966 Corvette L72s exempt from A.I.R. in California?

The 1966 Corvette w/A.I.R. (exc. H/Per., 427) used air cleaner asm # 6422287. This part number is also shown in the 1966 Corvette AIM (UPC K19, sheet A4). GM # 6422287 was discontinued sometime between June 1979 and Dec. 1981 as per GM Parts History. GM does not list a replacement for 6422287. The base on a 6422287 air cleaner assembly has 2 tubes and a stud.

Well, I've spent much more time on this than I should have. I haven't found any applications that require three tubes. The part number was assigned in 1969. It appears to be a one size fits all applications. Just block off the tube or tubes that your application doesn't need. Looks like it could be used on small block or big block applications.

There are no applications that use all 3 tubes. The seller is correct with the word "RARE!!" but is totally WRONG describing it as "This is the real deal and NOS GM". It's strictly a service air cleaner that probably needs to be modified.
