    64/65 380 FI fuel bowl mod

    Hi All, does anyone have a service bulletin about the fuel bowl vent baffle and screen mod? This became standard in mid 64? and 65 380 units. Gene Dresden did a survey way back in Restorer Vol 4 number 4 about the 'stud' at the back of the main control diaphram cover. It held a vent baffle inside the fuel bowl to help prevent fuel from sloshing out the top bowl vent hole. It also used a screen behind the side welch plug to help prevent aireation of returning fuel to the bowl. Wondering if any further information or the tech bulletin is available. Thanks,

      Dan, Look in Noland Adams book page 231. Top RH corner is what you want.
      "A running change was made to the 7017380 unit in early 1964, as detailed in a notice dated Jan 28, 1964. External vent guard and fuel screen added. It stated the reason as "To prevent vapor lock &vent screen plugging" This modification can be detected externally by examining the eight screws holding the fuel meter cover in place. If the right read screw is a stud (slotted) and nut instead of a screw, the unit has these revisions. The earliest unit reporting this is mid-March 64, about serial number 15,000."
      Dan the earliest 64 I have seen the float baffle on is in the late 14,000.
      Here is one for you. About the same time 64's got stamped with the serial number of the car the float baffle was added.
      I covered this in detail in a seminar I did for an NCRS National in Hershey, PA.

          Thanks John, was also looking for Tech Bulletin pertaining to field change for 63 to 65 FI units. Think it was offered as a kit. Thanks,
