I wanted to let you all know in the event section a great CORVETTE RACING EVENT will take place at ROAD AMERICA AUG. 18-21, 2011.

The CORVETTE WORLD TRIBUTE will be held at ROAD AMERICA race track in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin in conjunction with the ALMS Race August 18-21.

CORVETTES ONLY will have the track all day Sunday. This event is also celebrating 100 years of Chevrolet and the renaming of the CORVETTE Bridge as it was back in 1957. C1 thru C6 racers, cars, stars, seminars, Corrvette corral and great racing including the 2011 LeMans winners and cars.

I'm looking forward to this event. I'll be bringing the Purple People Eater along for the journey and I also spoke to Jim Jeffords today - he's excited about being reunited with the car again. I'm eager to see him (and the car) on the track again!

So far we have confirmation that DICK GULDSTRAND, BOB BONDURANT, JIM JEFFORDS, DOUG HOOPER, TONY DELORENZO, RONNIE KAPLAN, TOD OSAID, and other C1 and C2 drivers will be there. Many modern newer cars of the C-4 Challange era, and C-5 and C-6 cars all the way up to the 2011 LeMans winners will be racing. And Sunday, it is ALL CORVETTTE only. Should be fun.

Do spectators have to preregister or can you just buy tickets at the gate? It sounds like a must see event.

Here is the complete entry. You can buy a one day Sunday $25 ticket at the gate all the way to race a car for $250 for just Sunday or $330 if you are a ALMS 4 day racer . CHEAP TRACK TIME. Look at MONTEREY REUNION FEES. 3 Day spectator is $350. Here you can drive your car for $250, or all 4 days for $330.

CORVETTE WORLD TRIBUTE Aug. 18-21, 2011

The weekend was a big success. We had CHAMBER OF COMMERCE weather in Elkhart Lake, with highs of 82 degrees and humidity in the 40-50% range. One little shower early Saturday morning, then sun with puffy clouds appeared at 10AM.

The cars.......and The people.....C-1's thru C-6 NEW ALMS Race Corvettes thrilled the fans on hand. The CORVETTE CORAL was over full.

DICK GULDSTRAND, DOUG HOOPER, BOB BONDURANT, JIM JEFFORDS, TONY DELORENZO, ALLAN and DON BARKER, BILL COOPER, ANDY PILGRIM, JOHNNY O'CONNELL, GIB HUFSTADER, ALAN SEVADJIAN, DOUG RIPPIE and LOU GIGLIOTTI were but a few of the drivers from the past and present.

DOUG FEHAN and DAN BINKS guided the team ALMS Corvette cars of OLIVER BERETTA/ TOMMY MILLER and OLIVER GAVIN / JAN MAGNUSSEN. The vintage Corvettes filled the grid from Thusday thru Saturday, and ONLY Corvettes raced on SUNDAY for the CORVETTE WORLD TRIBUTE.

The CORVETTE BRIDGE after Turn 5 was re-dedicated after its original status in 1957, and a special Corvette Photo of over 65 of the race cars was taken to remember the day.

A capacity crowd attended the dinner and movie THE QUEST on Saturday evening at the ROAD AMERICA CENTER.

WEEKEND EVENTS like this ONLY HAPPEN ONCE IN A WHILE. THERE IS TALK ABOUT DOING A SIMILAR EVENT AT SEBRING OR DAYTONA IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS.
