    Chuck, Chrome is a transparent coating. Flash chrome on carbon steel requires a light strike coat of nickel to get the silver color.

    Neither plating layers are very good however at .0001 - .0005 inches thick.

        Looks just like an original LS-5 valve cover I have! Imperfections and all.
