I am rebuilding the convertible rear latches. I bought the rebuild kit from paragon, you get the rivets, links and new clamping fingers. the other two main parts are original rechromed parts. The latches are together but one will latch ok but touches the rear of the clamping finger and the main handle. the other one is worse the clamping finger and the main handle will not bypass each other, there is about .060 overlap and will not close. Has anyone had this problem? Paragon said they havent had any calls on this part for a long time. Thanks , RICK

Re: 1958 convertible top latch
Terry, The latches are not pieced together, they were working parts. I have measured them the best you can but they are assembled so its a little hard to measure when riveted together. My first thought was the new chrome clamping finger was to long but its not, the only thing that may cause it , if you look at a side view of the old clamp finger the bottom edge tapers down towards the hook, the new part doesnt taper down. If it did the finger may tip foward and allow the two pieces to bypass each other. Rick- Top
